Week 13: Texture










These are the textures I have found around my house when I took photos using Adobe Photoshop Mix. The tenth photo has a wooden texture. The first, second, fourth, and eighth photos have soft texture.
This is a composition I made called World Within Worlds. The monochromatic color is a representation of reflecting on one's memory. The photo in the middle has a hard, wet texture while the outer photos have softer texture.
This is a composition I made called The Islands in the Ocean. I took fifth photo and give it a blue shading. This layer is suppose to simulate the wet texture as the ocean is making waves. I also used the ninth photo and cut parts of it out to make it look like islands. I also used warm colors for those three pieces of the eighth photo. Finally, I cut out a portion of the third photo and gave it cool colors. While that piece has a smooth texture to make it look like it is covered with snow, the other pieces have rocky texture to represent the mountains of an island.

I made these drawings with pen on paper. First, I went crazy with the scribbles. Second, I draw my avatar in the scribble-like scenery. Finally, I've added some more detail to the scenery. The color for these drawings is monochrome. The cross hatchings of the lines in each drawing are for making the objects darker in appearance. My avatar is drawn with organic lines. The village has a symmetrical balance since it is divided by the valley. The texture for the grass in the third drawing is soft. The purpose of this series of drawings, Adventures of Tony the Yorkie Silky , is to introduce the viewers to my avatar, Tony the Yorkie Silky. Week 9: Values

The techniques I used for this art piece is cross-hatching, scribbling, and shading. I used pencils to make the values of this piece. I used a ruler to draw the vertical and horizontal border lines in this piece. The gradience of the drawing go from black to white and visa versa.

Selfies and the Difference Between Selfies and Self-Portraits

A selfie is a self-portrait photo taken with a smartphone to share on social network sites. A self-portrait is an artist's portrait made by the very same artist. This self-portrait was done by Albrecht Durer in 1500. It shows Durer wearing a fancy coat with a fur collar. It was made with oil on linen wood. Durer made this self-portrait to portray himself as a religious figure. This self-portrait was done by Frida Kahlo in 1940. Frida Kahlo paints herself with her hair cropped. This self-portrait was made with oil on canvas. Frida Kahlo painted this self-portrait because she wanted to stand out amongst female artists of her time. This self portrait was painted by Henri Matisse in 1906. It shows Matisse wearing a striped T-shirt. It was also made with oil on canvas.
