2D Week 8: Values

For this project, I used a ruler, a Bristol Board, and pencils. First, I used a ruler to draw the horizontal and vertical lines. Then I used a pencil to draw the values of this artwork.

The rules of value that I have used are cross-hatching, shading, and scribbling. The scribbling forms a fuzzy texture. The color for this piece is achromatic. The shading forms a soft texture. The gradient starts off white and finished to black lines.

I made these drawings with pen on paper. First, I went crazy with the scribbles. Second, I draw my avatar in the scribble-like scenery. Finally, I've added some more detail to the scenery. The color for these drawings is monochrome. The cross hatchings of the lines in each drawing are for making the objects darker in appearance. My avatar is drawn with organic lines. The village has a symmetrical balance since it is divided by the valley. The texture for the grass in the third drawing is soft. The purpose of this series of drawings, Adventures of Tony the Yorkie Silky , is to introduce the viewers to my avatar, Tony the Yorkie Silky. The techniques I used for this art piece is cross-hatching, scribbling, and shading. I used pencils to make the values of this piece. I used a ruler to draw the vertical and horizontal border lines in this piece. The gradience of the drawing go from black to white and visa versa.

Selfies and the Difference Between Selfies and Self-Portraits

A selfie is a self-portrait photo taken with a smartphone to share on social network sites. A self-portrait is an artist's portrait made by the very same artist. This self-portrait was done by Albrecht Durer in 1500. It shows Durer wearing a fancy coat with a fur collar. It was made with oil on linen wood. Durer made this self-portrait to portray himself as a religious figure. This self-portrait was done by Frida Kahlo in 1940. Frida Kahlo paints herself with her hair cropped.
