Mikado Concept Pt 3

I made these sketches using ink on paper. For the characters, I drew the shapes for each character. Then, I did more details to each character. For the scenery sketch, I traced the castle first. Then I added lines to make it look like the castle is stand above the water.

The characters are drawn with organic lines. The horizon and the castle in the fourth sketch are drawn with mechanical lines, with the except of the rooftops. There is an asymmetrical balance in the castle sketch. There is plenty of negative space in the character sketches. The color scheme for each sketch is greyscale.

This is part three of the Mikado project I'm working on. The first sketch, Go To, features Go To, a character from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado as a samurai. The second sketch, Peep Bo, features Peep Bo as the love interest of Pooh Bah. The third sketch, See Saw, features one of the new characters for this project as the narrator's love interest. The fourth sketch, The Mikado's Castle, features the traditional Japanese castle overlooking the scenery. The last sketch, Sing Sing, features another new character in the project. The purpose of each of these sketches is to show the continuation of my Mikado project based on the opera of the same name by William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan
