Bonus: Senior Seminar

This piece was made by Brianna Lorenzen. It was made with pastels on board. It was made in 2017.

There is a sense of a symmetrical balance at the top half of the piece. The crosshatching came from the drawings being made on the drawings. The colors appear to be a little dull. The majority of the lines for this piece are organic. The vine like structures at the top tangle together to form diamonds.

According to Brianna, the piece was inspired by her times when she was working at a mental institutions. Looking at the piece, it gives me a sense of uneasiness. It also reminds me of the unsettling tales of working at the mental institution. The purpose of this piece was to intrigue the viewer.

I made these drawings with pen on paper. First, I went crazy with the scribbles. Second, I draw my avatar in the scribble-like scenery. Finally, I've added some more detail to the scenery. The color for these drawings is monochrome. The cross hatchings of the lines in each drawing are for making the objects darker in appearance. My avatar is drawn with organic lines. The village has a symmetrical balance since it is divided by the valley. The texture for the grass in the third drawing is soft. The techniques I used for this art piece is cross-hatching, scribbling, and shading. I used pencils to make the values of this piece. I used a ruler to draw the vertical and horizontal border lines in this piece. The gradience of the drawing go from black to white and visa versa.

A selfie is a self-portrait photo taken with a smartphone to share on social network sites. A self-portrait is an artist's portrait made by the very same artist. This self-portrait was done by Albrecht Durer in 1500. It shows Durer wearing a fancy coat with a fur collar. It was made with oil on linen wood. Durer made this self-portrait to portray himself as a religious figure. This self-portrait was done by Frida Kahlo in 1940. Frida Kahlo paints herself with her hair cropped. This self-portrait was made with oil on canvas. Frida Kahlo painted this self-portrait because she wanted to stand out amongst female artists of her time.
