Bonus: Beverly Art Walk

The art that I saw at the Beverly Art Centers during the Beverly Art Walk was Wake Up  by Myia Brown. This piece was made using a castell pen. The piece is 16'' by 20''.

The eyeball, blood and face have organic lines. While the majority of the colors are black and white, the color is noticeable in the blood. The iris and nostrils are round in shape. The texture for the blood is water-like. The focus is on the bleeding eyeball. The balance for the face and the eyeball is even.

Myia Brown's Wake Up  looks as if one is experiencing a nightmare in reality and needs to wake up immediately. This represents how we deal with tragedies in real life and the constant thought that we are still asleep. Looking at this painting, I can sympathize with the artist. When I have experienced family tragedies, I felt like that I'm sleeping. However, these instances are examples that no matter how much we want to believe it's all a dream, we have to learn that what happens in reality is true.
