Emphasis on Lines by Anthony Rigoni

I created this piece using GIMP. First, I used the pencil tool to draw the lines for the art. Second, I used the paint bucket tool to color in the road, trees and the sleepy traveler. Third, I used the paint bucket tool to color the outlines on the markings on the road to make it look like it was painted on the road. Fourth, I used the pattern fill to make it look like Tony is resting on the ground.  Then, I adjusted the darkness and contrast to make the picture look like it was taking place at nighttime. Finally, I used the pattern fill to create a night sky.
The mechanical lines that I used for this piece represent the horizon. They are also used for the distance of the road so that they could be viewed from a far distance. The trees and the sleepy traveler are organic lines. The trees that I drew on each side of the road are standing vertically at a far distance. There is repetition in the form of the trees I drew. The balance for the trees on each side of the road is asymmetrical. The shape of the road is in the form of a trapezoid.
This piece that I call, I’ll Wait until Tomorrow, is about our hero who is sleeping after a long day of walking. Thus, the hero has decided to take a break for the night. The purpose of this piece is to give the viewer a sense of relaxation and ease. When I drew this piece, I felt very calm because this piece represents how relaxed people are when they rest after a long journey.
