Emphasis on Lines by Anthony Rigoni

I created this piece using GIMP. First, I used the pencil tool to draw the lines for the art. Second, I used the paint bucket tool to color in the road, trees and the sleepy traveler. Third, I used the paint bucket tool to color the outlines on the markings on the road to make it look like it was painted on the road. Fourth, I used the pattern fill to make it look like Tony is resting on the ground.   Then, I adjusted the darkness and contrast to make the picture look like it was taking place at nighttime. Finally, I used the pattern fill to create a night sky. The mechanical lines that I used for this piece represent the horizon. They are also used for the distance of the road so that they could be viewed from a far distance. The trees and the sleepy traveler are organic lines. The trees that I drew on each side of the road are standing vertically at a far distance. There is repetition in the form of the trees I drew. When I grow up, I would like to be an illustrator. If I were to be an illustrator, I would like to create artwork for books, animated films and character designs for video games. I use GIMP, which is an art program I use to make illustrations as well as character references for my own characters.
